MAHALO FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
MAHALO FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Aloha! I am Tess Abalos Quilingking and I am your candidate for District 30 representing Kalihi Kai, Sand Island, Airport, Halawa Valley Estattes and Ford Island .
I LOVE calling Kalihi home and look forward to continuing to serve my community as your State Representative. As a small business owner I understand the importance of supporting a healthy economy and safe neighborhoods. The people of Hawaii are concerned about the cost of living here at home and worry whether their children will be able to remain in Hawaii
and afford homes of their own. I will support and introduce legislation that promotes free enterprise, supports the development of affordable housing and reduces the restrictions, fees and taxes that prevent entrepreneurs from contributing to our local economy. Our friends and neighbors are also worried over how Hawaii will successfully recover from the devastating effects of COVID-19. I will work with other lawmakers to encourage our leaders to reopen our state responsibly and as quickly as possible. The health and safety of our citizens is vital and should be balanced with a plan to provide real recovery for our economy. I believe ultimately see our island home recover and thrive when Hawaii is allowed to go back to work without restrictions of hindrance from our government.
I am seeking your support to represent you as a fresh voice for our local community. I believe that our legacy can become a model for a vibrant new Hawai'i. I will be an ambassador, a champion, an advocate and will serve with civic pride! Please join my team and work with me to make a difference in our community.
I support reducing punitive over-regulations and eliminating
the Excise Tax from basic necessities such as food, rent, and medical care. I
will propose legislation that reigns in spending and lowers our debt without
raising taxes on Hawaii families. I embrace the principles of economic
freedom and fiscal accountability.
Education – I am in favor of the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act which would give our keiki the freedom to attend a school of their choice. Families want to provide their children with better educational options, but they are being denied that opportunity. I believe in partnering with the private sector to develop vocational and job readiness training and internships to provide Hawaii’s workforce with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the our local industries.
Retirement is meant to be enjoyed, and after a lifetime of hard
work, the people of Hawai'i should be relaxing and spending time with family, instead of worrying about how to make ends meet. I endorse measures that would cap property taxes, remove state taxes on IRAs, 401Ks, along with all
retirement income, and remove the estate tax for those over the age of 65.
As a small business owner, I support the reduction or
reform of state licensing laws, fees and taxes that prevent entrepreneurs and businesses from reaching their potential. A few ideas include reducing restrictions on home-based businesses, reform or repeal zoning laws, revising
restrictions preventing direct-to-consumer sales and deliveries, and more. Small business start-ups and ownership play an essential role in helping our communities thrive!
Public Safety of our community is of the utmost importance.
Ensuring that our police departments and first responders remain fully funded is critical to that safety. I support providing any and all necessary funding to our Police Officers and forging a bond between HPD and the community through a joint relationship with neighborhood watch.
Faith in God has given me the wisdom and strength to pursue her goals. Tess has said "without God my life would be empty". Keeping God in schools, and giving our youth the security of unconditional love is close to Tess' heart. "I don't want to force my faith upon anybody so finding a way to keep God in schools while giving students a choice is very important to me, and I look forward to working with families to achieve this goal."
As our world recovers it is important that we stay focused on what's best for our community. I am committed to keeping people educated and properly advised while not losing sight of what's crucial; our health. As we care for our health and the well-being of others we can't forget that we live in a free country, and we have to be sure that we respect the unalienable rights of our citizens when dealing with any crisis.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals!
